Cimbria for Pasta Divella: excellence in the selection process

Proud traditions strengthened by technological innovation

Artisanal passion merges with technological innovation thanks to a long and fruitful collaboration with Cimbria, which began in 2003 with the first optical sorters installed for the grain cleaning process. A symbol of production excellence in the Italian industrial landscape, Divella mills have inherited centuries-old production traditions of durum wheat pasta. Unique and refined recipes, artisanal passion, production traditions and superb product quality are some of the ingredients in the success of this iconic and world-leading pasta brand.

Selection is at the Base of Excellence

At the beating heart of Divella's manufacturing operations, Cimbria Optical Sorters play a key role. Strategically positioned in the production line, Cimbria sorting technology ensures that every single grain of wheat complies with the strict selection standards set by the mill to achieve the highest grain quality.

The SEA Optical Sorters have shown impressive reliability over the years, demonstrating Cimbria's ability to provide durable, state-of-the-art solutions. Thanks to a close collaboration between Cimbria and Divella, the machines have been calibrated and adapted to accommodate variations in grain blends and processing flow, ensuring the accurate removal of foreign elements that could compromise the final quality of semolina and pasta. This focus extends not only to food safety but also aesthetics, as Divella products must meet the strictest standards regarding visual purity to achieve the top-of-the-line standard of the famous brand.

Cimbria Technology

The new SEA.TN Optical Sorters, recently supplied to the Divella mill, are equipped with multifrequency RGBN cameras (full-color RGB with integrated Near-Infrared (NIR)). These unique cameras are designed to identify, select, and separate a wide range of shades in both visible and infrared spectra, allowing them to detect non-conforming grains and any foreign particles. This transformation of raw material into excellence is what the mill is recognized for. By utilizing optical sorting technologies, the wheat becomes pure and can be sent for milling to produce the pasta that is Italy’s pride worldwide.

A word from our customer

“In three centuries of operation, our production process has remained largely unchanged, emphasizing the importance of our roots. Cimbria has breathed new life into this tradition by integrating their technological expertise into an ancient and well-established process,” says Dr. Francesco Divella.

The combination of Divella’s proud tradition and Cimbria’s cutting-edge technology continues to redefine the concept of quality in pasta production, demonstrating that innovation, when respectful of tradition, can elevate it to new levels of excellence.
