Seed and grain facilities are under pressure to move more material, more efficiently, and under tighter environmental expectations than ever before. Cimbria’s new GX Belt Conveyor is a direct response to this shift.
The GX is a high-capacity conveyor solution built for modern bulk material handling applications. With a capacity range of 200-3720 m³/h and a belt speed of up to 3 m/s, it’s engineered for demanding environments where large volumes of grain and other materials must be conveyed with stable throughput, reliable belt performance, and the gentlest handling possible to minimise product degradation.
What sets the GX apart is not only its performance, but the way it combines enclosed conveying, modular engineering, and simplified maintenance in one solution. Developed to strengthen Cimbria’s comprehensive portfolio of conveying solutions. the GX gives customers a dedicated high-capacity enclosed belt conveyor for larger industrial plants, ports, export terminals, and advanced processing facilities.
Built to simplify complex installations
No two grain or seed facilities are exactly the same. Some require compact layouts and multiple discharge points, while others need long conveying distances, high throughputs, or future expansion built into the design.

Rather than customers needing multiple customised conveyor models, Cimbria has developed the GX as a standardised solution built around interchangeable sections. This modularity allows the GX to be configured for different capacities, inlet arrangements, discharge options, and plant layouts while keeping the number of unique parts to a minimum.
As Laszlo Talaber, Cimbria’s Product Owner, explains the design intent behind the platform approach:
“The goal was to build one base conveyor that can be adapted in many ways, instead of designing many different conveyors for similar applications.”
For customers, this means greater flexibility. For operators, it means easier maintenance. For manufacturers, it means lower complexity, simplified procurement, and more efficient production planning.
Engineered with environmental performance in mind
One of the clearest advantages of the GX is its enclosed conveying design. As environmental expectations rise, operators are under increasing pressure to reduce dust emissions, limit product loss, and maintain cleaner working environments.
By keeping material contained throughout transport, the GX helps reduce fugitive dust compared with open conveying systems. This supports cleaner day-to-day operations while helping facilities meet increasingly strict environmental and housekeeping standards.
Combined with gentle product handling, reduced spillage, and low-wear operation, the GX is designed to move material efficiently while reducing avoidable loss across the conveying process.
Designed for reliable, self-emptying operation
A key feature of the GX is its self-emptying conveying design. The system is engineered to continuously remove residual material during operation. This helps keep material flowing smoothly through the conveyor and reduces build-up inside the enclosed system.
As Daniel Nemeth, Cimbria’s Engineering Manager, Budapest, explains:
“We wanted a design where material keeps moving, not staying inside the system. That is essential for stable and efficient operation in high-capacity applications. By reducing material retention, the GX supports more stable throughput, lower energy use, and less wear on key mechanical components over time.”
This principle is applied throughout the conveyor design. The tension section includes a self-cleaning area that helps prevent material from collecting on the return side of the belt, supporting smoother operation and more stable belt tracking.

Material intake is optimised in the loader section, which is designed to reduce impact forces where material is transferred onto the belt. Its modular inlet system allows different capacity requirements to be handled without adding extra component types, while impact rollers increase durability under heavier loading conditions.
To further improve material flow, UHMW-lined diverters and extended skirt lengths help guide product evenly onto the belt. This reduces spillage and supports more consistent loading. External bearing observation points are also included in key sections of the conveyor, making inspections faster, and helping reduce downtime during maintenance.
A strategic addition to Cimbria’s portfolio
The GX is also an important step in strengthening Cimbria’s position as a complete solution provider. Previously, enclosed high-capacity belt conveyors were not fully covered within the company’s own range. With the GX, that capability is now integrated directly into Cimbria’s extensive product portfolio.
As Daniel Nemeth explains:
“This was a missing part of our offering. With GX, we can now deliver a complete conveyor solution in-house for high-capacity enclosed applications.”
As facilities demand higher capacity, cleaner operation, and simpler maintenance, the GX reflects where the industry is heading: smarter standardisation, greater flexibility, and practical performance at scale.
