Important information about phishing and payment fraud

There have been increased phishing and fraud attempts targeting customers across global Grain & Protein Technologies (GPT) businesses. These fraudulent communications may appear to come from GPT or one of our brands, but they’re not. They’re designed to request sensitive information or redirect payments.

This page explains how to recognize legitimate communication from GPT and its brands, how to protect your organization, and what to do if something doesn’t look right.

What is phishing and how to stay vigilant?

Phishing is a form of online fraud where attackers impersonate a legitimate company, supplier, or colleague to gain access to sensitive information or redirect payments. They may:

  • Ask for payment-related information, such as bank details or invoice confirmations
  • Request changes to payment instructions
  • Provide alternate contact details that are not genuine
  • Omit links or attachments to make the message appear more trustworthy
  • Use names, logos, or email formats that closely resemble legitimate GPT communication

Fraudulent messages and phishing attempts can be highly convincing. They often look almost identical to communications from GPT and its brands.

Regardless of how a phishing attempt is presented, the goal is the same: to gain your trust and prompt you to act quickly without verifying the request.

What to do if you receive a suspicious communication

If you receive a message that raises concerns:

  • Do not act on it until it has been confirmed
  • Follow your internal security procedures
  • Contact your Cimbria or GPT representative using known contact details to validate authenticity

If you believe fraudulent activity has occurred or may occur, contact your financial institution immediately. Acting quickly can significantly improve the likelihood of securing funds.

Important note: Cimbria’s banking information has not changed

There have been no changes to Cimbria’s banking details. If you receive any message suggesting otherwise, please treat it with caution.

To protect customers, GPT follows a strict and transparent process for communicating any legitimate change to banking information. If such a change ever occurs, you will be notified only through:

  • An official written letter on Cimbria or GPT company letterhead, and
  • A named Cimbria or GPT employee contact that you can independently verify using your existing, trusted contact details

We will never announce banking changes through email alone, through unexpected phone calls, or through new contact details you have not used before.

Because payment‑related fraud attempts are increasing globally, attackers may try to imitate GPT communication or create urgency around updating payment instructions. If a message does not follow the process above — even if it looks professional or familiar — it should be considered suspicious until verified.

Share this information within your organization

Impersonation and payment‑related fraud attempts continue to increase globally. Awareness remains one of the strongest defenses.
