Mestilla has completed one of the most advanced rapeseed processing plants in Lithuania, and Cimbria’s conveying technology forms an important part of the plant’s internal material-handling system.
Cimbria’s long-standing Baltics dealer, Dotnuva Baltic, delivered the complete conveying system for the new facility, supporting an annual throughput of roughly 500,000 tons of rapeseed and representing a major step forward for the country’s rapeseed and biodiesel sectors.
A long-term partnership built on proven performance
Rapeseed is the most widely grown crop in Lithuania, and Mestilla plays a central role in the national supply chain. The company buys rapeseed from local farmers and processes it into high-quality rapeseed oil, which serves as an important feedstock for biodiesel production. In addition to oil, the processing operation generates rapeseed meal, a valuable co-product that is widely used as a high-protein animal feed.
In 2006, Cimbria and Dotnuva Baltic supplied conveying and storage solutions for Mestilla’s very first rapeseed processing plant. This installation became the foundation for two decades of growth and partnership.
By 2025, the company was ready for a major expansion. The main goal was to increase processing capacity, modernize the technology, improve efficiency, and strengthen Lithuania’s ability to meet rising demand for rapeseed oil and its byproducts.
Installation began in spring and was completed in autumn. Dotnuva acquired the project and coordinated the full integration of Cimbria’s conveying equipment, including design, engineering, installation, and aftercare, and ensured every solution aligned with the overall plant layout.

A conveying system engineered for modern capacity
Cimbria’s conveying solutions form the plant’s core internal logistics and are essential to achieving Mestilla’s new processing targets.
With the company now ready to move around 500,000 tons of rapeseed per year, the material handling journey had to be redesigned to deliver higher capacity, smoother flow, and greater operational stability.
The Cimbria equipment supplied for the project includes high-capacity bucket elevators for vertical transport and chain conveyors for horizontal and inclined movement throughout the facility. These machines connect intake, storage and processing in one continuous flow and were chosen to support the higher throughput while maintaining seed quality.
A key change from the 2006 installation was the need to handle a far greater volume of rapeseed. Cimbria conveyors now move this raw material from intake to storage and from storage to the processing line. Rapeseed meal produced during processing is transferred to storage silos and then transported to the truck loading area.
The project also includes a Moduflex dust-free loading chute, which allows rapeseed waste to be loaded cleanly into trucks and reduces dust on site.
And to manage the increased intake volume, two new 5000-ton silos were added to the facility and fully integrated into the Cimbria conveying flow. The elevators and conveyors feed and discharge these silos with precise control, ensuring that the expanded storage capacity operates as a seamless part of the overall system.
A stronger, cleaner and more efficient national rapeseed supply chain
The new Mestilla plant strengthens Lithuania’s rapeseed industry in several important ways. The facility now handles two to three times the volume of the original installation. This increase gives the country a much higher processing capacity and creates more stability in the national supply chain.
