Investing in optical sorting technology is an important step for any processing business. Whether our customers operate in recycling, agriculture, food processing or other industries, it can significantly improve product quality, increase efficiency, reduce waste, and improve overall process stability.
But once the machine is installed, a new question often follows:
How do we make sure we are using its full potential?
For many customers, this is where the real journey begins. Every production environment is different. Products change, seasons change, processing requirements change, and the people operating the optical sorter need to feel confident responding to these changes.
That is the thinking behind the Cimbria Academy. It is a practical, tailored and in-depth training concept designed to help customers and dealers build the knowledge needed to achieve the best possible performance from their optical sorting solutions.
Because no two operations are the same
One of the realities of optical sorting is that there’s rarely a universal setting for every customer.
A rice processor working with one consistent product may need something very different from a seed company handling multiple crops, or a recycling business that sorts a wide range of materials every day.

Even within the same product category, raw material can vary from batch to batch. Color, size, and contamination levels may all shift over time. What worked perfectly last month may need to be adjusted today.
Customers often tell us they want greater flexibility to respond quickly without always needing to wait for external support. That is a fair expectation, and one of the key reasons we created the Cimbria Academy.
Building confidence through practical learning
The purpose of the academy is to help customers and dealers feel more capable, confident, and in control of their optical sorting equipment.
Training is built around the customer’s own products, processes, and goals. For some, that may mean learning how to fine-tune recipes for changing material conditions. For others, it may mean understanding how to troubleshoot more effectively, reduce reject rates, or improve processing consistency.
Importantly, the focus is always practical. Customers work through real operating scenarios with Cimbria specialists who understand both the optical sorter and the day-to-day pressures customers face in production environments.
Depending on the need, training may focus on areas such as:
- Understanding optical sorter operation and machine functionality
- Optimising recipes for specific products
- Adjusting settings to match changing raw material characteristics
- Improving final product quality
- Reducing reject rates and product loss
- Increasing uptime through better troubleshooting and preventative knowledge
- Strengthening technical support capabilities within dealer networks
Hands-on learning with Cimbria specialists
The academy offers training in the format that best supports each customer’s operation, team structure, and learning goals.

For some customers, the most effective approach is on-site training at their own facility, using their own machine and live production materials. This allows our specialists to work directly within the customer’s day-to-day environment, helping teams fine-tune performance, address specific challenges and apply learning immediately in real operating conditions.
For others, there’s the opportunity to train at Cimbria facilities alongside our specialists. In a dedicated setting, away from production pressures and daily interruptions, customers can spend focused time exploring machine capabilities in greater depth, working through multiple product scenarios and building confidence through hands-on learning.
Remote training sessions are also available, providing flexible support wherever customers are located. These sessions can be particularly valuable for follow-up guidance, refresher training, onboarding new team members, or reviewing adjustments when raw material conditions change.
Many customers choose to combine these options over time, using on-site, in-person, and online training at different stages of their development.
A long-term partnership
Optical sorting technology continues to develop, and customer expectations continue to rise. For that reason, training should not be seen as a one-time event at installation, but as part of an ongoing partnership. The Cimbria Academy has been developed with this in mind.
We share expertise, help customers grow their own internal optical sorting knowledge, and make sure their investment continues to deliver value and performance long after commissioning.
Because in the end, the best results come when we match good solutions with confident people who know how to use it well.
